Unlocking the Full Potential of the Blue Economy: Are African Small Island Developing States Ready to Embrace the Opportunities?

This analytical report aims to examine the importance of the Blue Economy for African Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and the future challenges and opportunities this sector entails for African SIDS. As there is no global blue economy strategy currently, this report also adds to the global blue economy strategy for SIDS in general. This report presents the vulnerability of African SIDS, a description and potential of each blue economy sector, and the challenges the different sectors face, then provides recommendations.
