From rising temperatures to extreme weather, forced displacement, droughts, or floods, the world is changing fast. And the truth is: climate change is already impacting young lives.

  • Over 1 billion children, nearly half the world’s youth, are at extremely high risk from climate-related disasters like floods, droughts, and heatwaves (UNICEF).
  • Air pollution, fueled by fossil fuels, causes over 300,000 child deaths each year (UNICEF).
  • Disrupted schooling, water shortages, food insecurity, and increased mental health challenges are becoming everyday realities for youth in many regions (UNICEF).

But here’s the good news: young people are at the heart of the solution.

Across the globe, youth are speaking up, taking action, leading powerful movements for climate justice, innovating, and demanding bold climate action from leaders. You’re not too young to make a difference, and climate education is your first step. When you understand what’s happening and why, you gain the tools to take charge of your future.

This platform is your space to explore, learn, and act on climate, whether you’re new to climate topics or already a changemaker. Because the climate crisis needs more than awareness; it needs informed, fearless youth like you.

We need to ensure that young people have a seat at the table – forging inclusive solutions that combine peace and security, sustainable development and human rights – Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations

That’s how you can start:

We provide a variety of e-learning materials and resources that young people can use to inform themselves on climate-related topics. From the basics of climate change, to deep concepts on mitigation and adaptation, from using art and sports to support your community to developing key leadership skills.

All these learning resources have been created with youth in mind: accessible, practical, and ready to use. They’re available to help you take the next step, whether you’re leading a campaign, attending a climate negotiation, starting a school club, or simply learning more for yourself.

Show your achievements:

Our learners are already putting into practice what they have learned through our e-courses. The Climate Champions are individuals who have made a difference in their communities in different ways: translating climate materials to their native languages, starting a dialogue on climate change among neighbors, founding an NGO to offer activities to youth on climate education, lecturing on climate change at the school or university, and more.

Meet some of our champions and get inspired by their achievements. Are you doing something similar? Submit your climate story and you can be featured on our website.

Connecting young people worldwide:

Students at middle schools or university levels have been benefiting from an exciting initiative that brings young people from around the world together to talk about climate change. The Youth Climate Dialogues (YCDs) connect young people from different countries and cultures to share their experiences, ideas, and hopes for a more sustainable future. What’s unique about the YCDs is that they’re not lectures: they’re real conversations. Youth speak directly to each other about how climate change is affecting their lives and what actions they’re taking locally to fight it.

By participating in the YCDs, students not only raise awareness about global climate challenges but also build a sense of global solidarity. They learn that even though climate change affects regions differently, the fight for climate action is a shared responsibility. The program encourages critical thinking, empathy, and collaboration, all while giving young voices a platform to be heard on the global stage. For any young person who wants to be part of the climate solution and connect with peers across borders, the Youth Climate Dialogues are an inspiring place to start.

Be ready for COP30:

Every year, we organize a series of short sessions on a range of climate topics covered at the major climate conference: the UNFCCC Conference of Parties (COP). Experts from the United Nations and partners deliver a 45-minute online class where you can stay up-to-date on major climate streams, key climate issues, negotiation tracks, emerging trends,  and the latest developments and insights from the global climate agenda.

Being a climate leader or engaging in climate negotiations requires a good understanding of those topics. Check out the official page for further information on the upcoming edition.

Youth Climate Report:

The Youth Climate Report is a project developed by the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat, which aims to consolidate short documentary films made by youth.

Each year, participants create video reports on climate impacts, research, and solutions in their home countries and communities. The map below displays all sorts of videos on a range of climate-related topics. Zoom in and zoom out to watch the videos.

All young people are invited to submit their videos. If you are already doing great stuff in your community, check it out on the official webpage here and submit your video.

Be inspired by great minds:

Learning what others are doing inspires us to take action. The series of TEDx events brings together young changemakers who share powerful ideas, stories, and initiatives that motivate the audience to take positive change in their communities. Three editions have been organized and have brought together more than 500 people. The editions touched upon key topics on climate change and presented great ideas to solve some of the world’s most pressing issues, such as water supply in drought-stricken areas, new technology to foment conservation practices, innovative ideas to engage with the indigenous community, upscale climate action, regenerate ecosystems, and entrepreneurial experiences in sustainable irrigation. A fourth edition is being organized by November 2025, and the application call will be open soon.
