On 11 June 2026, as part of the 64th session of the UNFCCC Subsidiary Bodies (SB64) in Bonn, Germany, UN CC:Learn supported the co-facilitation of the 2026 In-session Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) Dialogue and Technical Workshop.
The ACE Dialogue is a key annual forum under the Glasgow Work Programme where Parties and stakeholders reflect on progress in implementing climate change education, public awareness, training, public participation, access to information, and international cooperation. At SB64, the event carried particular significance: at COP26, Parties requested the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) to undertake a midterm review of the Glasgow Work Programme at its sixty-fourth session, making this year’s Dialogue a critical milestone in shaping the next phase of ACE implementation.
UN CC:Learn’s contribution on Day 3 of the workshop focused on supporting the co-facilitation of discussions around potential elements for a new action plan under the Glasgow Work Programme. Participants engaged in rich, cross-cutting exchanges structured around key thematic clusters, including Policy Coherence, Communications, Finance, Information Exchange, Institutional Arrangements, Multi-level Action Coordination (MER), Participation and Inclusion, and Public Awareness — including the challenge of mis- and disinformation. The interactive format encouraged cross-pollination of ideas on what would make future activities and deliverables effective, impactful, and implementable.
As negotiations continue toward COP31, UN CC:Learn’s engagement at SB64 underscores its ongoing commitment to strengthening the foundations of climate empowerment — ensuring that education, awareness, and inclusive participation remain at the heart of global climate action.
