This infographic on the actions that need to be prioritized to improve the adaptive capacity in agriculture sectorsto ensure food security and build resilience against climate change impacts. It creates understanding on the most vulnerable groups to climate impacts, and how countries with intended contributions to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, can be supported.

This guidance document explains how UNDP is addressing El Niño and La Niña phenomena.  2015-2016 Ehas been one of the strongest on record for E l Niño, affecting deeply the lives and livelihoods of more than 60 million people across 40 countries. It has devastated crops and killed livestock, in some cases dried up water-sources in others caused massive flooding, driven up malnutrition rates, increased disease outbreaks and caused significant migration. 

This guidance document aims at calling to scale up action in order for countries to deliver zero-carbon economic growth and development for all. Just as the risks and impacts of climate change induced hazards vary between countries, so do the capacities of countries to address them. Developing countries often have less capacity and resources to reduce emissions, adapt to climate impacts, and manage the uncertainty of climate risk, whilst they are confronted with pressing development challenges.

This analytical highlights the nature of the challenges that agriculture and food systems are facing now and throughout the 21st century, and provides some insights as to what is at stake and what needs to be done. What emerges is that “business as usual” is no longer an option but calls for major transformations in agricultural systems, in rural economies and in how we manage our natural resources.

This guidance document provides an intoduction to the UNESCO climate change initiative,  which works in all its domains—education, culture, the sciences and communications—to address climate change holistically. It seeks to reinforce the scientific, mitigation and adaptation capacities of countries and communities that are most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. 

This guidance document contains examples of technology and knowledge transfer in new markets, as well as the use of big data to improve climate adaptability in agriculture, and water management. Technology in the field of climate change is no exception: new technologies are changing the way we share information and transforming climate sectors such as agriculture, transport, water resource management and energy generation.

This activity report analyzes the results from a conducted a public opinion survey  in 2013, in five cities in Latin America to learn about citizens’ perceptions about quality of life, urban infrastructure needs and public services. Of the five cities surveyed, three are megacities (Mexico City, São Paulo and Buenos Aires) and two will soon become megacities (Bogotá and Lima).

This analytical document is oriented towards stimulating the discussions, commitments and partnership building between governments and the private sector at the Global Green Growth Forum (3GF). The commitments and insights derived from this first regional 3GF meeting will both benefit the LAC region and feed into the global 3GF meeting in Copenhagen on October 21-22, 2013. 

En este documento técnico se describen los desafíos que plantea el uso actual y futuro del agua en los Andes tropicales, comenzando por un análisis del ciclo hidrológico proyectado presente y futuro, así como los efectos previstos sobre los servicios ambientales que suministran los glaciares y la vegetación de los humedales. Se abordar las tensiones y conflictos que existen en relación con el uso del agua desde una perspectiva socioeconómica.

This activity report focuses on the climate change implications for agriculture and highlighting the need to better understand future climate implications for, and to plan for climate change adaptation actions in, the LAC agricultural sector. For this purpose, an overview of the sector’s climate challenge is presented, including the consequences of projected impacts and possible responses. 

This activity report seeks to provide an in-depth summary of existing literature, exploring the key issues relating to stranded assets through an analysis of three areas: 1. Understanding systemic climate risks: implications for the financial sector and lessons for central banks and financial regulators 2. Stranded assets and development: ensuring low carbon development pathways are resilient to asset stranding 3. Investor exposure to stranded assets: managing investments and portfolios exposed to environment-related risks. 

Este informe de actividad resume algunos de los resultados de desarrollo más destacados en las contribuciones realizadas por programas implementados para el logro de los ODMs en Panamá, y también los cuatro ejes de procesos transversales: 1) Fortalecimiento de capacidades, 2) Generación de información y gestión de conocimiento sobre temas vinculados al desarrollo, 3) Fortalecimiento del trabajo conjunto, y 4) Incidencia en políticas públicas.

Este documento analítico se basa en los resultados alcanzados en la 21º Conferencia de las Partes (COP) de la Convención Marco de las Naciones Unidas (CMNUCC), especialmente enfocándose en el Acuerdo de París (AP), adoptado el 12 de diciembre de 2015, y los medios de implementación para su cumplimiento. Además, busca realizar un examen preliminar de las implicancias del Acuerdo para la región de América Latina y el Caribe en relación con los medios de implementación para la acción climática.

This activity report  presents a range of projects intended to advance the achievements of the Millennium Development Goals on Environment and Climate Change. It exposes 53 lessons learned on climate change adaptation at national and local community levels, describing experiences that were gained and their impact at the global and policymaking levels. 

Este documento analítico se basa en los resultados alcanzados en la vigésima primera Conferencia de las Partes de la Convención Marco de las Naciones Unidas para el Cambio Climático. El estudio tiene como propósito central analizar El Acuerdo de París, así como realizar un examen preliminar de sus implicaciones para la región de América Latina y el Caribe.

Este documento analítico estudia el sector de automóviles en Latinoamérica y proyecta cómo su crecimiento tendrá un efecto importante en la demanda de combustibles. El transporte público en la región posee un potencial estratégico para ser la punta de lanza de la movilidad eléctrica, a través de buses eléctricos. El transporte público eléctrico resulta muy apropiado para aprovechar los beneficios de esta tecnología, observándose un aumento de los programas demostrativos en muchas ciudades. 

This guidance document shows how environmental aspects can be successfully interwoven with the social, cultural and economic milieu in which they are proposed, adopted and, ideally, scaled-up to meet the massive housing demand in developing countries. 

Este documento analítico se enfoca en las implicancaciones de la implementación en la región de los compromisos referentes a mitigación contenidos en el Acuerdo de París. En particular, se revisa la brecha existente entre las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero compatibles con la meta de mantener la temperatura promedio por debajo de 2° C y las emisiones globales resultantes de la efectiva implementación de las CDN comunicadas a la fecha.

Este documento analítico  proporciona una perspectiva del Acuerdo de París y sus implicaciones para América Latina y el Caribe, y donde se desarrollan estos temas con mayor profundidad. El objetivo de este documento es proporcionar información sumaria para fomentar la cooperación, refuerzo de capacidades y colaboración Sur-Sur en el marco de la Plataforma Regional de Cambio Climático. También analiza las implicaciones del Acuerdo de París en la mitigación y la adaptación al cambio climático de la región.

This analytical document reports the nationally determined contributions survey, which aims at defiining the requirements for countries to implement the nationally determined contributions they have submitted under the Paris Climate Change Agreement. One key finding of the survey is that countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean urgently need financial support to green their power sectors.
