A new joint effort lead to a new capacity-building tool on CO2 emissions reduction from international aviation.

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) have developed the e-tutorial “International Aviation: Intro to States’ Action Plans to reduce CO2”. The launching of the tool has taken place during the Green Airports seminar held in Montreal, Canada, between 29 and 30 November 2017.

This e-tutorial aims to build an understanding of the importance of States’ Action Plans to address CO2 emissions from the international aviation sector. It draws the attention to the importance of the cooperation among all stakeholders in the process of selecting, adopting and implementing of the most appropriate measures to reduce the CO2 emissions from the international aviation.

Action Plans support the improvement of energy efficiency and therefore help reduce CO2 emissions contributing to the global environmental aspirational goals states have in the context of the Agenda 2030.

The e-tutorial can be accessed through the UN CC:e-Learning platform.
