Mr. Chebet Maikut is the Commissioner at the Climate Change Department, Ministry of Water and Environment and UNFCCC National Focal Point for Uganda. As Head of the Climate Change Department, he provides the leadership, management oversight, and technical support to climate change actions. He supports networking and partnership, undertaking coordination, representation and liaison on issues of climate change in the country, including the promotion of low carbon, climate resilient and green growth development. He is also the National Coordinator for the UN CC:Learn project in Uganda.

Mr. Chebet Maikut served as a Member of Parliament and a Member of the Constituent Assembly that established Uganda’s post-independence Constitution, a Member of DuPont’s Biotechnology Advisory Panel and a Senior Fellow of Synergos. He has also served as a Member of the Interim Panel of Imminent Experts to the Global Crop Diversity Trust. Mr. Maikut was the Vice President of the East African Farmers Federation and President of the Uganda National Farmers Federation, and served in several national committees, boards, task forces, and international organizations in a variety of capacities over the years.
