UN CC:Learn in Benin

Strengthening Human Resources and Skills to Address Climate Change

Climate change is a major development concern for Benin due to its impacts on human health, food security, economic development, physical infrastructure and water resources. In order to strengthen individual skills and institutional capacities to foster green, low emission and climate resilient development, the country is implementing a national UN CC:Learn Project. Through the Project the country is taking a strategic and results-oriented approach to climate change learning with involvement of key sectors and stakeholders. The Project is being implemented over a period of 24 months in 2011-2013. Find a summary of the project here.

The National Coordination Mechanism for the UN CC:Learn Project in Benin includes key Ministries, learning institutions, civil society and the private sector.

The Ministry of Environment of Benin organised a 4-day workshop on climate change finance focusing on project proposal writing.

Key elements of the Project include the development of a National Climate Change Learning Strategy and the implementation of a number of Priority Actions.

The UN CC:Learn Project aims to provide value added to existing UN initiatives in Benin to support a green and climate resilient transformation.
