Africa's Adaptation Gap – Climate-change Impacts, Adaptation Challenges and Costs for Africa
This technical document aims to inform policymakers of the shortcomings and opportunities for adaptation to climate change in Africa. It details adaptation costs under three scenarios. According to the document, annual adaptation costs due to past emissions are estimated at US$7-15 billion by 2020. Under a scenario where warming is kept below 2°C by 2050, annual adaptation costs are estimated at US$35 billion per year. Under the scenario where present emissions policies remain unchanged and the world experiences warming to 3.5-4°C by 2100, the adaptation cost could reach US$50 billion per year by 2050.

The Emissions Gap Report 2013 – A UNEP Synthesis Report
This technical document presents the latest estimates of the emissions gap in 2020 and provides plentiful information, including about current (2010) and projected (2020) levels of global greenhouse gas emissions, both in the absence of additional policies and consistent with national pledge implementation; the implications of starting decided emission reductions now or in the coming decades; agricultural development policies that can help increase yields, reduce fertilizer usage and bring about other benefits, while reducing emissions of greenhouse gases; and, international cooperative initiatives that, while potentially overlapping with pledges, can complement them and help bridge the emissions gap.

Portfolio Carbon: Measuring, Disclosing and Managing the Carbon Intensity of Investments and Investment Portfolios
This analytical report aims to provide a case for why and how investors and their service providers should start measuring, disclosing and reducing the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with their investments and investment portfolios. The first two sections present current political, social and economic trends towards greater scrutiny and regulations of GHG emissions. The next two sections detail various ways in which investors can begin to measure and address the GHG emissions embedded in their portfolios, including advantages and obstacles associated with different methods. The document concludes with a short explanation of some of the future work to assist investors and other financial intermediaries (FIs) in addressing their financed emissions, as well as a number of case studies on how leading FIs have already begun addressing theirs.

Understanding the Concept of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action
This technical document aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) concept and enhance the understanding of NAMAs by explaining the underlying decisions of the Conference of the Parties in layman’s terms. The first chapter describes how the concept of NAMA emerged in the context of the negotiations on climate change. The second chapter clarifies the understanding of NAMAs in the context of the global temperature goal, and moves on to discuss the legal nature and scope of NAMAs. The third chapter specifically addresses the concept of measurement, reporting and verification (MRV), and describes the implications for countries implementing the MRV requirements. The last chapter discusses institutional arrangements, under the Convention, for providing financing to develop and implement NAMAs. The chapter also briefly discusses the different financial sources for implementing NAMAs, and concludes by explaining the concept of incremental cost in this specific context.
