The technical document presents the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) as a key instrument for limiting greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable development. It takes the reader through basic concepts and the processes of developing baseline and baseline methodology. Additionally, it presents indicative methodologies for small scale CDM projects and examples of approved methodologies for project specific baselines.

This technical document addresses the barriers to CDM implementation by providing information aimed at both developing country financial institutions and at CDM project proponents. It should be noted that while the guidebook was developed particularly with the CDM in mind, most sections will also be relevant for Joint Implementation (JI) project activities.

This technical document describes and evaluates the project Assessments of Impacts and Adaptation to Climate Change in Multiple Regions and Sectors (AIACC) implemented over the period 2001-2007. This analytical report has been prepared by UNEP’s Sustainable Buildings and Construction Initiative (SBCI). It proposes changes to the CDM to encourage the development of more energy efficiency projects in buildings.

This policy document presents a “Global Green New Deal” (GGND) to create a post-recession economy that is sustainable in the medium to longer term. GGND has three broad objectives. In the short term, it should make a major contribution to reviving the world economy, saving and creating jobs, and protecting vulnerable groups. In the medium term, it should promote sustainable and inclusive growth and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Also in the medium term, it must reduce carbon dependency and ecosystem degradation.
