UN CC:Learn @ Carbon Up-date
The 3rd Indonesia Carbon Up-date provided a forum to exchange on the progress of Indonesia in terms of climate change mitigation in various sectors. One of the sessions focused on the capacity development and provided an opportunity to discuss and receive feedback on emerging areas for Priority Action to be included in the National Strategy. Indonesia currently accounts for approximately 5% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. A DNPI study shows that Indonesia has the potential to reduce its GHG emissions by 2.3 Gt by 2030, representing a reduction of 46% from 2005 levels. There are many opportunities to cut emissions further, but such deep cuts require significant investments as well as individual and institutional capacities.
