Mr. Léonce Glèlè Ahanhanzo Presents his Experience as a UN CC:Learn Ambassador
Mr. Léonce Glèlè Ahanhanzo, National Coordinator of the UN CC:Learn project in Benin and ambassador for climate change learning, participated in the meetings organized as part of the official launch of the UN CC:Learn project activities in Burkina Faso (10-13 March 2015) and Niger (23-26 June 2015). He shares with us his experience as an ambassador.
Mr. Léonce Glèlè Ahanhanzo
As a UN CC:Learn Ambassador, I had the pleasant task to complement the presentations of my colleagues from the UN CC:Learn Secretariat with a brief summary of the process undertaken by Benin, UN CC:Learn pilot country. The overall presentation of the project enabled participants to clearly understand the goals, objectives and methods of the project, while the experience of Benin showed them a side of the conceptualization of UN CC:Learn support in a similar country. These presentations provided the basis for fruitful exchanges.
Burkina Faso - From left to right: Mr. Vincens Côté, UN CC:Learn Secretariat; Mr. Léonce Glèlè Ahanhanzo, Ambassador for Climate Change Learning of Benin; Mr. Joël Korahiré, National Coordinator of the UN CC:Learn project in Burkina Faso; Ms. Amrei Horstbrink, UN CC:Learn Secretariat; Mr. Gousmane Moussa, National Coordinator of the UN CC:Learn project in Niger.
My presence in the team of the mission seemed to generate quite keen interest and our different interlocutors have shown curiosity in comparing our respective approaches. This confirms the interest in linking the countries in the pilot phase with those of the new phase, especially when the geopolitical context and the cultural and administrative heritage are close. Most of the questions revolved around 1) the methodology used in Benin to assess learning needs and teaching capacities, and 2) the integration of issues related to climate change in the pre-university education.
Niger - From left to right: Ms. Hatchabi Kouriram, Director of the Adult Training and Alphabetization Programs, Ministry of Primary Education, Literacy, National Languages Promotion and Civic Education of Niger; Mr. Gousmane Moussa, National Coordinator of the UN CC:Learn project in Niger; Mr. Léonce Glèlè Ahanhanzo, Ambassador for Climate Change Learning of Benin.
These two experiences as a UN CC:Learn Ambassador have been very interesting and formative for me. They allowed me to find myself “on the other side of the fence”, with my colleagues from the UN CC:Learn Secretariat, and to assess the expectations of the other countries about the new and future phases of the project.
