Up-coming Event: Workshop on Climate Finance

 climatequity.orgOne of the priorities identified in Benin's National Climate Change Learning Strategy is skills development for accessing national as well as international climate change finance. For example at the national level, the Fonds National de l’Environnement (FNE) of Benin provides funding for climate change projects, and local and national institutions need to be able to draft adequate project proposals to access these funds. Similarly, FNE staff needs project proposal writing skills to effectively access international climate change finance sources such as the Adaptation Fund. In this context the Ministry of Climate Change Management, Reforestation, and Protection of Natural and Forest Resources of Benin is organizing a 4-day workshop on climate change finance focusing on project proposal writing. Objectives of the workshop include:

  • Provide different actors involved in the design, development, implementation and monitoring of climate change projects with an overview of existing funding sources at the national and international level;
  • Allow participants to identify the most realistic and immediate finance sources;
  • Familiarize participants with different resource mobilization techniques;
  • Strengthening capacities of participants to develop bankable project proposals.

At the workshop participants will start drafting their own project proposals that will be peer-reviewed by other participants. Participants can also bring existing draft proposals to the workshop for discussion and refinement.  The ultimate goal is that the proposals will be finalized after the workshop and submitted to national or international funding sources.

The workshop will take place from 24 to 27 September 2013 in collaboration with the Centre d'Education à Distance (CED), the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management and UN CC:Learn.
