Webinar on Setting Up Programmes of Activities, First of a Series of Upcoming Online Learning Events

11 October 2013. Programmes of Activities (PoAs) have been introduced to overcome some of the challenges associated with implementing Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects. PoA’s are of particular relevance in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) due to their potential to contribute to reduce poverty. In order to foster understanding of PoA’s and facilitate their design, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank Institute (WBI) introduce the Webinar on Setting Up Programmes of Activities. This webinar is the first in a series of online events jointly organised by UNDP and WBI. The event takes place on October 17, at 10:00 AM eastern time.

The webinar introduces or refreshes the concept and regulatory framework of PoAs and provides an overview of the role that the Coordinating/Managing Entities (CME) play in a PoA. The current PoA standards for demonstration of additionality, development of eligibility criteria and standards on application of multiple methodologies and sampling are also introduced as well as how CMEs are structured and what their responsibilities are in setting-up and managing PoAs.

The event is facilitated by Randall Spalding-Fecher who has 17 years’ experience in energy and climate change analysis, following 3 ½ years of strategic management consulting experience, with special expertise in Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) methodology and project development, energy economics, mitigation analysis, and energy efficiency analysis.
