What are the implications of the outcome of the 2011 UN Climate Change Conference in Durban, South Africa for future action on climate change? This question is at the centre of a World Bank Institute (WBI) webinar that will take place on 17 January 2012. Neeraj Prasad, Manager of the Climate Change Practice at the World Bank Institute, will serve as a discussant. The webinar is part of a new WBI series to educate and foster discussion around pressing issues in development.
During the webinar, Mr. Prasad will outline the key achievements and remaining issues of the Durban Climate Change Conference. He will summarize the outcomes affecting the Kyoto Protocol and its flexibility mechanisms and the possible impacts on carbon markets beyond 2012. Mr. Prasad will discuss the emerging framework of the Green Climate Fund, review possible timelines, and overall highlight opportunities emerging for developing countries as the global community enters a new phase of multilateral climate change negotiations.
The webinar is part of a free monthly webinar series on "Emerging Issues in Economics" that discusses cutting edge issues in development. Experts from the World Bank share the latest approaches on topics such as social entrepreneurship and green growth through online presentations.
