25 June 2012. In answer to the growing need for capacity building in the field of climate change, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) delivered a three-day Training of Trainers Workshop for climate change professionals, from 6-8 June 2012, at the International Telecommunication Union offices in New York New York, USA. The event aimed to develop the skills of experts and practitioners and to enhance their capacities to effectively communicate and deliver training on climate change.
The workshop brought together a group of motivated participants, who joined energies throughout the training to enhance the learning experience of each other. Facilitated by Mr. Rabih El Haddad and Ms. Emily Fraser, UNITAR, it built skills and knowledge in areas such as identifying personal learning styles, tailoring training presentations and instructive exercises, how to enhance and assess the effectiveness of presentations, and how to provide feedback and discuss lessons learned related to learning experiences.
As a result of the training, participants gained the skills and confidence needed to deliver training or enhance their delivery of training in the future. Trainers and trainees will continue the circle and network opened at the workshop so as to provide continuous and fluid support when delivering training on climate change or any subject.
UNITAR looks forward to remaining in touch and invites other persons interested in participating in a similar programme in the future to submit their CVs and/or questions to Ms. Emily Fraser at firstname.lastname@example.org.
