4 April 2014. Sharing success stories and lessons learned is a great way to find inspiration. In order to share learning experiences in the field of climate change, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Executive Secretary, Christiana Figueres, has launched the call for applications for the Momentum for Change Awards 2014. Applications are being accepted from 31 March to 23 May for the 2014 Lighthouse Activities.
The Awards aim to recognize practical, scalable and replicable examples of inspiring climate action in four thematic areas:
-action by and for the urban poor;
-action that fosters women’s leadership and empowerment;
-action that fosters climate friendly investments;
-action that uses information and communications technologies.
Momentum for Change is an initiative spearheaded by the UN Climate Change secretariat to shine a light on the enormous groundswell of activities underway across the globe that are moving the world toward a low-carbon future. Momentum for Change looks for innovative and transformative solutions that address both climate change and wider economic, social and environmental challenges.
Each year, the Momentum for Change Advisory Panel selects a small number of activities to become Lighthouse Activities. These activities are recognized during the United Nations Climate Change Conferences. All applications that meet the criteria will be presented in the Momentum for Change activity database.
