Trees of Life

This United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) video presents the benefits obtained through the Humbo CDM afforestation/reforestat project in Ethiopia. This project, based in rural southwestern Ethiopia, successfully restored 2,728 hectares of forest through the involvement of community cooperatives. It was Africa’s first large-scale forestry project to be registered under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). 73,000 carbon credits were issued in October 2012 and purchased by the World Bank's BioCarbon Fund.
