Introductory Learning Modules

Concept

Introductory Learning Modules (ILMs) are a series of slide presentations covering core climate change topics. Each module will feature approximately 30-40 slides to support presentations of approximately 45 minutes in length. ILMs are generic in nature, but can be further developed in a tailor-made fashion taking into account the needs of specific target audiences.

The modules are developed in a standardized manner and have a “common look”. Common features include inclusion of specific learning objectives upfront, subdivision into specific parts, and provision of annotations and reference materials to support speakers and learners.

Topics

ILMs will primarily cover cross-cutting topics, but may also address selected sectoral topics or more specialized themes that are considered of priority. During 2011/2012, it is envisaged to develop and peer-review at least eight introductory learning modules. Proposed topics include:

  • UN Framework Convention on Climate Change
  • Climate Change Science and Modelling
  • Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment
  • Climate Change Adaptation
  • Climate Change Mitigation and Low Carbon Development
  • Climate Change Finance
  • Climate Change and Trade
