  1. Sixth Latin American Carbon Forum

    The VI Latin American Carbon Forum is a regional event established to promote knowledge and information sharing while facilitating business opportunity environments among main carbon market stakeholders. It promotes discussion and exchange of experiences among interested stakeholders and provides participants the latest developments of mission trading schemes and the future of the CDM. Additionally, it focuses on analysing the international and national climate change mitigation policies and facilitates a comprehensive debate about the negotiation of greenhouse gases (GHG) emission reductions. Finally it seeks new impulses for increasing the volume of low carbon investments in Latin American.

  4. Sustainable Development Seminar

  5. Experts Meeting on Climate Change Education for Sustainable Development and Adaptation in Small Island Developing States (SIDS)

    This three-day international expert meeting focuses on the challenges that climate change poses to education systems in Small Island Developing States (SIDS). SIDS are among the most vulnerable countries with regard to climate change and are already confronted with its effects, including rising sea levels and changes in climate extremes such as droughts, floods, and tropical cyclones/hurricanes. The meeting will develop a road map guiding and promoting education as an important means to enhance adaptation to climate change, in the context of sustainable development. The road map and its recommendations will serve as a contribution to the upcoming 17th Conference of Parties of the UNFCCC in December 2011 and the Rio+20 Conference in June 2012 as well as the End-of-Decade Conference of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development in 2014.

  7. CBD Africa Regional Consultation and Capacity Building Workshop on REDD+, Including on Relevant Biodiversity Safeguards

  9. E-learning Course on Climate Change Diplomacy

    This online course aims to provide the necessary training for participation in multilateral negotiations, public sector work, and diplomatic engagement in relation to climate change through an enhanced understanding of its science, international policy framework, and the key negotiation issues pertinent to reaching a post-2012 agreement. The course targets mid to senior-level government officers in ministries preparing for and/or taking part in conferences in relation to climate change as well as staff of intergovernmental/nongovernmental organizations. It also targets entry-level and mid-career diplomats working in a multilateral setting.  Private sector specialists and students whose work or studies are related to this subject are also encouraged to apply.

  13. Workshop on Enhancing the Regional Distribution of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Projects in Asia and the Pacific

    The workshop - in line with Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol decision 2/CMP.4 on regional and sub-regional distribution and capacity building - aims to increase the number of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in countries currently hosting fewer than 10 registered CDM projects. A pre-workshop session on 6 September 2011 offers one-on-one consultations between potential project developers and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) team of experts to discuss CDM opportunities, financing needs and options. The focus is on countries from Central West Asia and the Pacific which could not be covered in the last year’s workshop as well as those from South, East and South East Asia with compelling CDM potential projects.

  16. Summer School on Climate Impacts Modelling for Developing Countries: Water, Agriculture and Health

    This summer school aims to aid scientists in developing countries achieve a working knowledge of climate change impacts modeling. It provides lectures and laboratory classes on: the use and uncertainty of the main observational datasets available from remote sensing to drive impacts models; the use and uncertainty of short-range to seasonal forecast products and climate model data from major numerical weather prediction and climate centres including the IPCC assessment climate integrations; impacts modelling in the three target sectors of agriculture, water and health including classes using open; and source models in each sector.

    This course introduces learners to climate change mitigation, explores the concepts surrounding low carbon development planning on an economy-wide basis, and takes a detailed look at what this means in the power and transport sectors and for household electricity use.   19. E-learning Course on Public Procurement of Energy Efficiency Services

    The e-course consists of seven modules on public procurement of energy efficiency services presenting key concepts and providing opportunities to apply and discuss them. All modules use multimedia presentations and offer selected readings. Quizzes, research exercises and case studies help to broaden participants’ understanding of the topics in a pro-active way. By the end of the course, participants will be able to: identify opportunities for Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs) in the public sector of their country, define the overall procurement process for ESPCs in a public agency, document case studies on specific country experiences using the ESPC approach, identify how to address the key procurement issues related to the ESPC approach and develop a "roadmap" for employing the ESPC approach and selecting energy service providers to implement energy efficiency projects.

  25. Pacific Adaptation to Climate Change Meeting

    This meeting convenes representative of the 13 Pacific Island Countries involved in the Pacific Adaption to Climate Change (PACC) Project, to review and discuss progress and to share experiences and lessons learned.
