A showcase of inspiring case studies and success stories to demonstrate how awareness raising and education play an important role in mobilizing climate action and stimulate a discussion on how public awareness raising and education on climate can become even more effective.

This event focuses on national and sub-national level policy and programme implementation, including assistance in the development of policies on displacement and climate change; advocacy on displacement; and dissemination of tools that specifically target vulnerable communities such as refugees, internally displaced persons and migrants.

As part of the Africa Adaptation Programme (AAP), representatives of 20 African countries building resilience to climate change meet in Dakar to share lessons on climate adaptation, build capacity, agree on priorities for the AAP workplan for 2011, and accelerate progress to make their countries more resilient to climate change.

The International Training Center of the ILO is offering a course aiming at empowering participants to contribute to the formulation and implementation of national policies for a transition to a greener, more sustainable economy. Particular attention is paid to the ongoing climate change negotiations and to Green Jobs perspectives in relation to the current economic crisis.

The workshop is aimed at African journalists to enhance their understanding of climate change issues and improve their reporting skills. The three day training covers presentations on the main themes of the climate change policy regime (adaptation, mitigation, finance and technology) as well as insights from media practitioners.

The aims of the meeting are 1) to examine existing methods for understanding extreme weather and climate events; 2) to identify areas for improvement in the production of reliable data; and 3) to start to develop forecasting strategies.

The UNFCCC organizes a Regional Workshop for Africa on Article 6 of the Convention to share experiences, lessons learned and best practices in developing and implementing education, training and public awareness activities activities and to promote greater regional and international cooperation on implementing the New Delhi Work Programme.

This training workshop provides technical support to Lusophone LDCs in designing an implementation strategy for the National Adaptation Programmes of Action (NAPAs) and for the preparation and submission of project documents to the GEF under the  Least Developed Countries Fund. The training is part of a series of workshops jointly organized by the UNFCCC Least Developed Countries Expert Group and the GEF.

The Territorial Approach to Climate Change Workshop in Tirana is a three day workshop designed to build the capacity of sub-national governments to deal with the adaptation to, and mitigation of climate change. The event is part of a series of regional workshops that are being held all over the world within the TACC Initiative, a collaboration of UNDP, UNEP, UNITAR, and UNHABITAT.

This course, offered by UNITAR in collaboration with the World Trade Institute of the University of Bern, explores key legal and economic issues arising from the climate change debate, including the relationship between the WTO Agreement and multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs) that address climate change. The course examines the legality under international trade rules of domestic and international trade measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as measures designed to influence the behavior of trading partners.
