  1. Joint National Seminar on Promoting and Financing of Innovative Green Technologies

    This seminar focuses on innovation policy for climate change adaptation and financing aspects for green technology through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The aim of the event is to increase the skills and knowledge of policymakers to enable them to better: (a) design and develop effective innovation policies that mainstream climate change considerations into the relevant sectoral and cross-sectoral policy mixes to stimulate and develop countries' scientific potential, encourage innovative entrepreneurship, and increase demand for green technology innovation through market and public policy instruments; and (b) access new types of financing through PPPs for the take-up and diffusion of green technologies tailored to the circumstances of each country to enhance their climate change adaptation response. It targets mainly policymakers and other stakeholders from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

  15. E-learning Course on Negotiating Climate Change Adaptation and Loss and Damage: from Cancun and Beyond

  16. International Carbon Footprint Seminar

    This seminar focuses on environmental footprint and Latin American food exports: international regulations and business practice. It looks at the state of carbon footprint labeling standards internationally, including ISO 14.067, France's Grenelle 2 and standards work underway in the European Union, and discusses the state of methodologies for calculating the carbon footprint of products. It also looks at the application of environmental standards on imports by US and European retail chains and cases of adoption of such standards by exporters in Chile, Colombia and Costa Rica. The event is part of a series of annual seminars on the potential implications of carbon footprint initiatives for Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) trade.

    This e-learning course aims to enable participants to: 1) identify Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC) opportunities in the public sector in their country; 2) define the overall procurement process for ESPCs in a public agency; 3) document case studies on specific country experiences using the ESPC approach; 4) identify how to address the key procurement issues related to the ESPC approach; and 5) develop a “roadmap” for employing the ESPC approach and selecting energy service providers to implement energy efficiency projects in the public sector. It consists of seven modules presenting key concepts and providing opportunities to apply and discuss them. All modules use multimedia presentations and offer selected readings. Quizzes, research exercises and case studies help to broaden participants’ understanding of the topics in a proactive way.
